Looks like a lot of the Angus cattle are from bloodlines that are carriers of NH, AM and CA.  It would be nice to know the carrier status.  ???

Lot 167 - The JF Foundation heifer certainly took a good picture.  What's the story on her?  You know anything about the cow side?

We did not include all of the genetic testing information in order to wait and see the results of the Fawn Calf list. This list was not available until a week after the catalog went to print. We will however have complete genetic testing information available on all of the possible carriers on the supplement sheet that will be available online as well as in hard copy on sale week. If you have any questions about the genetic issues regarding certain lots feel free to contact any of the consignors in this sale.

Thanks for noting this issue, but I can assure you that we have nothing to hide.

The Lot 167 heifer is currently located at the sale site in Roseville, IL and everyone who has seen her is taken back by her combination of power and femininity. The dam side of this female is a half blood Simmental cow by Nichols Legacy, with the other side being a commercial cow. This female is one of only a few daughters by the JF Foundation sire, this sire has extremely limited availability on semen (which is too bad if he continues to throw progeny like this heifer).

The sale will not be online, for two main reasons.

1. Our internet connection at the farm is too slow for any of the internet auction services to guarantee a steady stream of video and audio.

2. In the past we have averaged selling cattle at a rate of 1 animal per minute. So if the internet slows down for any reason bidders online will not be able to keep up with the current price.

Since we will not have online bidding we will offer the services of 12 consultants as well as 3 other phone lines to call into to place bids during the sale. We do ask that if you will not be able to attend the sale that you give us a call at least 24 hours prior to the sale in order to receive a bidder number. We do not hand out bidder numbers to people that either ourselves, or consignors, or our consultants don't know over the phone on sale day (unless payment will be made by a credit card).

I did not see any harwood cattle listed this year. Are they consigning any cattle at the foundation sale this year?

Harwood's who were our longest running consignor, having cattle in the sale for over 10 consecutive years, have increased there pasture acreage and have decided to build there numbers. So they will not have any cattle in the sale. It was difficult trying to replace the quality of commercial sim/angus cattle they consigned each year, but I believe we have accomplished this.
