Where are you at? I'm sure theres a hereford breeder near you. Only problem is you may have to increase your price range if you want quality.

I dont know where you guys are at but around here you DO NOT have to raise the price range to get a nice hereford steer. Like the breeder i work with sells to me for a $1 a pound (thats if im showing herefords) and they are super nice steers.  I bought two 500# steers for $700 and $725 and they look to be high up in the rankings at our fairs if not like reserve grand.  I think you can find a nice hererford steer that weighs about 450# for $1500 but if you shop around you could find one  for less.

yes you are correct if you can work it out with the breeder but here in tx everyones looking for that last minute steer because we only have till the 30th of june also the tx majors are very competive and you have to be willin to pay to get good quality that is unless you know your breeders
