Yes, the Iowa Royal is the Shorthorn sale held during the Iowa Beef Expo.  It's on a Tuesday, Feb. 10th.  Not sure about the time but I think it's at 11:00.  I believe there is a parade on Monday at 1pm that will be live on the internet somewhere.  This is the first year we have consigned there so I'm not positive on all the particulars yet.  Catalog should be out any day now!

Quite honestly, the LSF animals really "stand out" in that catalog, & they do it in a good way.  As always, just calling it like I see it.

I was told the other night that the first Shorthorn sale in Des Moines was in 1939.  That has to be the longest running consignment sale.
Back in 1939 there was only 3 breeds.  I am not sure when the Beef Expo actually started.  I believe the Iowa Royal Sale has one of the best consignment sales around. The board really tries. The Iowa Beef Expo is a fun event. I will be bring 2 Shorthorns if I get them broke. If not I will be there anyway.  The best part of the Expo is when I and Boyd watch his wife and by son work and we " discuss nothing".
So if you are able to make the Iowa Royal Shorthorn Sale stop by our stalls, sure would be glad to meet you.  Ask us about the "Steer Planet Gift" we will have for you.

Thank you, TJ and Justin, for the kind words.  As far as updated photos - we do not have any that are more recent than what I have posted.  I know that next weekend we'll be getting them clipped up again for the sale.  Hopefully, the parade on Monday, Feb. 9th will be of good quality for those at home who are interested in watching.  Mitch -thanks for the history on the Iowa Royal sale.  The sale certainly has a reputation for being one of the best consignment sales there is for Shorthorns.  Actually, we purchased a couple heifers out of the sale just a few years ago.  Thanks again for all the comments, compliments, PM's and phone calls we have received on these heifers - all are appreciated!

The roan heifer sold at the top of the sale for $4000. She went to Florida so I doubt we'll get to see her much this summer.  The bull we had out there for Paynes brought $3000 and was 3rd high selling bull.  Our bull struggled a little, too much white on his legs I suppose.  All in all, it was a pretty good sale for us.  I'm sure we'll probably have something out there again next year.

Hey Mitch- thanks for the SP gift!  My husband enjoyed the welcome and visiting with you!
