Keep me posted on his calves. I would be interested in using him on heifers. I use a Red Angus bull Above and Beyond as of now. I am willing to try something new. He has a really cool look. What are his EPD's like(sorry if you posted them and I did not look). I will be in Nashville in march, wish he was closer for me to see. Looks like you got a good one in him.

Jeff,

I just got back from Dad's and wanted to update you on the calves out of Leader.  I had intended to get photos but it was wet, muddy and windy so that didn't work.  The calves out of the bull are very consistent - moderate framed, very sound, all polled (so far), very healthy and vigorous.  They are a little behind some of our other fall calves in terms of weight, but they are all out of 2 year olds and weights 5-7 lbs. less at birth so they weight difference is what I would have expected.

From these first calves, he sure looks like he'll be a true calving ease bull that will be great on heifers.  We haven't used him on any mature cows so I really can't give you a sense of what he would do there, but I would think he would do fine.  He was bred to be a calving ease bull to ehlp reduce birth weight and that's exactly what he's done.

If you need more information, let me know.

Joe

For those that asked, he's the information we ran on our Leader bull earlier this year.  You can contact me or JiT if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Last chance to order semen for spring delivery.  We've collected a reasonable inventory of very high quality semen, but he soon on his way to Canada and we won't be collecting him again for a while
