Dave Nichols is the salt of the earth and his cattle are good performance type cattle. His lines have produced some show type cattle such as OGL Battle Cry and new performance cattle such as Vermilion X Factor and Nichols Quiet Lad.
A funny story. When I toured his farm in the early 90s he was capping his pit silos with ground up candy bars. He joked that he had to keep an eye on the hired help as they might be found digging out the snicker bars. The candy bars would melt from fermentation and solar heat and seal the silo, true story. I am not sure he still does this, but it was amazing at the time.
