I'm looking for a used Heatwatch system for around 250 cows.  Anyone have one or know someone that wants to get rid of one.

I would suggest not buying a permanent system.  Those are often extremely expensive and can get lost and damaged fairly easily.  There are many disposable patches such as these http://www.selectsires.com/estrotect.aspx that will be much less expensive and possibly more accurate.  We use them on our herd of 80 holsteins and they work great.

Thanks for the referall Okie. The bullseye system is similar to the heat watch system, except the the information is retained on the cow unit meaning it can be used anywhere you need it. If we can be of any help please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank You

I am not sure how to tell what version of system this is.  All I know is that it a cable plugs into the serial port that goes to a box that is connected to some kind of receiver / antenna mounted outside.  It runs on Windows XP and they (HW) sent an updated CD the other day for it.  I think I have around 75 transmitters for it and some spare pouches to attach them to the cow.

F5CHASER- I am pretty sure you have the Heatwatch 1.  We had the Heatwatch 1 and then they upgraded ours to the Heatwatch 2.  The main difference is the buffer that connects to your computer via the serial port is wireless to the antenna and receiver mounted outside on the Heatwatch 2 system.
We only run about 120 cows and use it on about 40 head a year that we a.i. the rest are recips we use the estrutect patches on and we are running around 90% conception rate with the heatwatch.  It does cost quite a bit up front but it is really eye opening when you realize how many cows actually start standing around 11 to 3 at night and it is real nice to just be able to run in the house and check the computer when you have been in the field or been out somewhere and know if something was in heat and the exact time to breed.  I competely agree that you have to be somewhat careful with losing one occasionally but if you put them on the way the people at heatwatch tell you, you will very seldom lose one but the disposable patches will definitely not be close to as accurate. You just need to weigh the pros and cons.

It is a HW 1 and I was too shocked at the # of cows standing in the WEEEEEEEEEEE hours of the morning.  It made my conception rates go up too.
