I figured now was as good a time as any. The sale is a larger area barn and my first calves through a sale barn. The prices wasn't what I had hoped or used to figure my break evens back in May, but I got what little feed/mineral they ate paid for and didn't lose any calves, so I'm calling it a success! my pham luxury girl My eye was no good on my bigger calf but was close on the others. I sold 15 and they split into three groups.

9 black heifers ave. 778 at 1.77 lb Outsold heifers weighing 65 lbs lighter. Listed as med and large 1
5 black steers ave. 767 at 1.85 lb These sold within 2 cents of top of the market in their weight class. Listed as medium and large 1-2
1 black steer ave. 915 at 1.65 lb This calf obviously didn't match. He brought above the average of his weight class.

These calves received 3 lbs of commodity 14% daily and straight fescue pasture since May. I guessed them, for what that's worth, that they weighed in the ballpark of 500 or so then, and gained in the vicinity of 2.3 lbs a day, if I figured/remember correctly.

I was commended on my cattle during the sale, so that made me feel pretty good. It's odd seeing them go through. Kind of sad to see them go. I've got babies hitting the ground now though, so here we go again. Hopefully I'll be where I can keep my heifers this time.
