here at our house, I am charge of all show cattle.  Hubby doesn't like genetics, or all that show stuff.  I gladly take it on.  I need advise from all you men.

I have a couple of really nice MaineTainer heifers I am taking to the Royal.  I've been invited to ride along with another farm to Louisville with them.  How do I convince the hubby I should go??

I've always wanted to show at the NAIL and I am beating my head against the wall right now.

For 36 years, my wife and I never ask the other about doing, or buying something, we just do it!(long before Nike)

So, at my house iwould be: "Honey, I'm going to Louisville on the xxxxxx with the ssssssssssss family to show some heifers.  It's yoyo for you while I'm gone."

yoyo= You're On Your Own.  Dinner is yoyo every night except Friday when we have our Date.

Tell your hubby what I tell mine (often I might add!) if you don't go along with it, just remember, I have a backhoe, and a big pasture, nobody will miss you for a few days.
I think you should go for it!! You will regret it if you don't!!

I'm smart enough to NEVER tell my wife she can't do something or go somewhere.  I don't want a dose of my own medicine if I tried otherwise.  That's what you need to remind him of.

buttering works really good.  also you might say what you are going to bring him back like something at a local store that specializes in implement ads that are framed.

on the other hand, if you get too good at this, he may want you to go away a lot.

i guess a happy medium would be desirable which humans never seem to understand where that is.

sometimes compromises are across the straigts of ... or a mountain range, an ocean.

humans like creating and picking scabs.

Are you related to my wife???  It would be a fight at our house to see who had to stay home.

Why would you have to convince him?  I would think that would help the business and thus be a no brainer?

My wife and I have found it works best if we just make our own decisions and do it. Just last night I told her that I had booked flights to 3 cattle sales and she responded that she had just booked a flight to a horse seminar. Fortunately, we didn't pick the same times to be away so it makes things easier here. Last night we also decided that we should try to go someplace together sometime. We seem to always be heading in different directions. Last year, she went to Reno and Washington DC and I had to stay home because I was setting up some donors to flush. I wnet to Scotland and Chris couldn't get away because of some committments she had made here.  Right now, I think we are both in agreement that we will try to get to Louisville in November. I thought this was a great choice of location as I can always drop her off at the Kentucky Horse Park if she gets bored at the show and I can spend all day at the NAILE. So far, we haven't had an argument over any of this ...... at least not yet!!

He has no desire to go...and to be honest it may go smoother alone lol.

Knabe I am trying to butter him up.  I made homemade chili, chocolate cupcakes with homemade icing inside them and on top.  If all else fails, I could say "either Denver or Louisville those are your only choices lol"
