Has anyone tried this product?  If so, what were its adv/disadv?  Is it the same as Sure/Show Coat only with the weaver brand?

The Big Show / Breeding 2015 Heifer Advice
« on: January 17, 2016, 08:43:51 PM »
We have this 2015 show heifer that we cannot get bred.   We have tried A'Iing, then pasture exposed bull, had her palpated (after running with bull 2 heat cycles) was cystic (vet took care of this) plus vet said ovaries on one side were immature/underdeveloped but the other side ovaries were perfectly fine and ovulating and used time/sync ai'd breeding with her no luck came into heat again this past week and is out with bull again.  We saw him mounting her in standing heat.  If she comes into heat again,  is there anything else we could try?  Would it be wise to pull her up now and watch, if she comes in heat give another shot of cystorelin and turn her out with bull again or wait and timed/sync AI again?  I know some will say ship her, but before we do this I would like to exhaust all avenues... she has been a really successful show heifer that we don't want to lose.....right now my only cost is shots given and labor.  Thank you for any help!

The Big Show / Precon Question
« on: December 06, 2015, 06:43:08 PM »
We have used precon before on both our show steers and heifers from the time we get them to HBC Show in December and then we have taken then off of it (around anywhere from 700 to 850 lb calves).  This year we were thinking of continuing on and never taking them off of it?  Does anyone else do this - never take them off of it?  What are adv/disadv of doing this you have seen?  Thank you.

I would agree with the Believe in Me temperments.  They are hairy, thick and pretty to look at, but they can be a handful at times to deal with.  If you have a younger showperson, make sure you check the calf temperment/attitude....some aren't the best for little kids.

The Big Show / Umbarger Impact

Anyone using this new feed from Umbarger?  Any opinions?  It is supposed to be for steers (payload used for heifers) and it is a heavier fat/fiber, but cooler internal heat version of cattle blaster?

Anyone tried it yet?  Just curious about pros/Cons of it so far?  Just wondered if it was the same or had the same effect as showmaxx or not?

The Big Show / Eye Candy Steers
« on: January 25, 2013, 09:32:35 AM »
Just curious for those who have had eye candy steers how do they finish out?   We have a real cool looking eye candy steer, loads of hair, big topped and good depth, walks real well, etc., etc., but we have heard (at times) they really start to have sputter at the 1200 to 1250 range?  Anyone have any experience with this or not?   We want to get him to 1325 or so by target show in July. He currently weighs 850 to 875.  Also,  How well do they keep there hair in the summer? We don't have a cooler, but we have what seems like a million fans (HAHA) blowing all the time.  Thank you for your reponses.

The Big Show / Re: Shorthorn - white leg hair advice

Weaver's adhesive states that it will dry with a white tint to it.  How much of a tint is there?  Does the Weaver Brand white touch up dry with a bright white finish or more of a dull/flat white?

The Big Show / Shorthorn - white leg hair advice
« on: October 31, 2012, 11:12:52 PM »
Need advice:  we have a shorthorn steer that has white legs.   How do you build them with the white hair?  We had planned on using  adhesive like normal, but then do we just use Ultra white touch up paint to build with and then we are finished - do we need white paint to cover the touch up paint like you have do on blacks?  We could use baby powder, but are at least trying for a more natural look rather than a bright white leg hair then the rest of the body is more of a duller white if you will.  Any other advice is very well much apprciated and welcome.  This is our 1st year with a white haired leg calf and want to be able to build, but have a natural look to it as well.

This is the first calf we have had with white legs and underbelly.  What is the trick to building legs with all white hair?  Thank you for your time.
