Permanent nose ring could be a last resort if you cannot earnestly break him of the habit. We put a ring in my daughter's calf two years ago because as soon as you walked in the ring he would put his head down and just rub it in the sand.  It happened only in arenas at prospect shows never at home. After we exhausted all means possible to break him of the habit, we  put a ring in his nose. He never did it with me just anyone else who lead him.

Nice shape. He sure bodied up over time. Angus cows would be an interesting mix.

For popping pasterns, I suggest one of the following: Multi-min, Copasure, BoSe or MuSe. I have had success with all of them. Just depends what I have handy at the time.

I used Amplify back in the day before Power Fuel came along. I prefer Glu-Coat

The ergonomics & design of these are better than the pet combs. Although they are more expensive, these are more durable. Just my opinion

The Big Show / Re: Rat tail steer---would you buy one??
« on: April 11, 2011, 10:42:52 AM »
Have seen Power Plus throw some rat tails in the past...I have never been worried about it and have fed some rat tailed calves before...breed & reserve breed champions...if all that worries you is the tail and the calf is complete everywhere else...feed him is my advice. Good Luck!!

Ears and heads look right to me, however, clipping their heads might help as Jeff eluded to earlier.
