There is a rumor that they are using the covid mandates as excuse for their not being on time with the construction in the yards, they are way behind on the improvements that should be done.

The Big Show / Re: Can We Get Some "STEER" In Steerplanet

Was able to watch the Colorado state fair Grand Drive, really a nice set of steers and Connelly picked a good one, I was watching online so the little details are hard to catch, I personally liked the steer he used for reserve better but you could see him better.

I know every feed company has pellets of some type depending on the animal you are feeding, like most goat feeds are in a pelleted form, but a lot of goats don't like the pellets. Horses don't seem to care to much, lambs are somewhat finicky about them as well. I didn't know it until a couple years ago but most of the pelleted pig feed is supposed to be fed dry, where as the meal form should be fed wet like a slop.

I have fed pelleted feed to my calves in a precon ration but it not something I feed for extended periods and switch them over to a texturized feed. Being an ADM product I would think it would be a pretty decent product without much of any unnecessary things in it. But if it's as good as ADM claims why don't other feed companies offer their show feeds in a pellet form?

I can see the pellets storing better, is there a benefit of easier digestablity?

Medium Rare it's funny you mention what might be left in 20 or 30 years, when I was in college our coach told us that in 20 years there would only be 4 beef breeds left, while there are still numerous breeds left is less strength in 2 of the breeds he thought would dominate. He claimed that the 4 breeds would be Angus, Hereford, Limi and Maine. I look back at that comment and wonder what happened.

It's interesting watching the breeds cycle through the years, what's popular what's not and where the money gets spent.

I think most breeds promote jr. heifer showing completely and some breeders go to great trouble to get heifers out there. How can anyone blame them. Collect a check and get free promotion for your ranch.

The Big Show / Feed question

Reading through some literature from ADM Showtec, they have texturized feed and a cold pellet. Have any of you used the cold pellet, do any of you know which is better? I know opinions are like af$h*)e, everyone has one but why aren't other high end feed companies using a pellet? Maybe they are I'm just not familiar with it.

I bred a couple to Hawkeye, both were heifers and are better than average, that being said I probably won't breed anymore they weren't impressive enough to want anymore of them.

Black hills stock show in Rapid City, South Dakota is an option, the NILE in Billings has been cancelled and at the moment there is no information about NWSS  and rather it will take place. But come November 4th Covid-19 will disappear and we can get back to living.

Big butts = hard calving

I'm sure that's true to some extent but I've had no issues calving my Eclipse calves.

Man-thems some thick rascals-Once upon a time-Shorthorns looked something like that-I havent seen many lately any where near as wide but blowing up that first Hereford bull-the picture looks like he has no go nads for some reason O0

I promise he's got plenty of nuts. He's been working cow's for almost 70 days now and looks pretty good in my opinion.
