Guess I missed hearing about it. What's done with the steers after the show same as any? Didn't know of buyers were. Only generous to juniors.

What if there were one day an Open Steer Show.
Whats everyones opinions?
Would it be failure or success?
Who would be in it to win it or leave it to the juniors?
Thought it would be an interesting topic......

apologies accepted. judgement shall be reviewed on those who hold the phones not of those who are gaudy. but like most of you i agree that there are boundaries in "bling" but should keep it fun.  (clapping)

my fiance still his old show heifer ya know the one thats sentimental that will die on the land well she hates everyone except my fiance. he can walk up to her any day of the week and love on her.when him and i first started dating he took me to the cows. he explained to me about the cow, told me she hates everyone but him well i walk up and start petting her noooo problem. my fiance said thats her approval of us dating its better than his mothers. so silly me im like wahoo she loves me (a cow im excited becuase im aproved by a cow) well months go by and nothings changed and then she had her calf ......she now will try to go through the fence to hurt me, charges me, and gives me this god awful evil eye. im now afraid to be around her. i guess its just a maternal instinct. dont know if its a good thing or bad thing.

cattle stepping on combs is never good ive actually had one step on a sharp metal comb while washing as it fell out of someone elses pocket. so i never liked to put one in my back pocket while showing until i lost a showmanship because of it. so i never carry one until right before showmanship and i put a plastic comb in my pants. that way it wont hurt me and wont fall out if another calf bumps me. always a big concern to me.

wowcow you can not possibly state that "blinged up" jr.showman are irresponsible spoiled brats that just walk their heifer in the show ring. you must not be so judgemental just because someone spends money on themselves to look nice at a SHOW. i wear gaudy jewelry and you assume i dont touch my heifer you assume i dont feed her scratch her wake up at 4am to wash her? do you think that i dont do it myself? so some girls you see do that you think all do?

i dont mean to get offended by this post by no means am i but you cant totally judge someone by what they wear. i know a girl who doesnt look anything but plain and SHE is the one texting on the phone 24/7 uses more muscles in her thumbs than anywhere else on her body. everyones different. to me its all about passion not the clothes on your back put me bottom of the line up because i look nice and assume i have no passion and i gaurentee you will leave guilty knowing i stuck better than anyone out here.

i feel like this post should be for people who judge and would like to reach out to their showman or showman wanting to speak out to their judges and the judgementals. whats overboard and whats accepted. and as far as judgement goes charlie sheen wears bowling shirts does that mean he bowls?

i am a 17 year old girl so i im not speaking for anyone and i am the showman.
I do not own a belt that isnt a kippy or B.B. simon.
I do not go over board. i would love for the judge not to get blinded my my bling and actually see my heifer.
as far as the major bling goes i DO NOT wear the large head bands nor do i wear outrageous shirts,
i keep it simple with a nice startched shirt
i do own one pair of bedazzled pants but 90% of the time i stick to plain jane pants.
but nothing is wrong with feeling pretty by having a big nice necklace i dont wear earrings and my hair is out of my face no curls and no large up do
my show stick is black and my halter and harness are plain.
ill leave it to the jr.showman to have zebra showsticks bedazzled harnesses and halters.
its not cute. this is not a beauty pageant for the showman leave it to the cattle. i try to keep it professional.
now at the large shows where the lights are extremely bright cut it down alot but i dont think at your small county show the lights dont hurt you as much and it never hurt to doll up. A LITTLE (thumbsup)

belt buckles are always nice and i watched a show the other day where they let the winner customize their buckle with a price range or certian maker thought that was pretty neat. also went to a show in the past where it was a metal cut out in this case it would be surpreme showman and have a picture of a calf or showman and calf with 2011 cut out with it it was really nice. i think the chairs that look like director chairs are nice to take to shows set up at the trailer and show off.

can you imagine them having a jingle saying "everyone loves Limousin beef dude" or hereford, shorthorn anything.  people just want beef half don't care where it comes from. personally i wouldn't trust McDonald's with real Angus beef patties or any of their patties. they taste more like soy bean and dried up momma cows that wont milk. And really think about it how many people even know why Angus is the leader in steaks and burgers? do they really know its because of marbling?

The Big Show / Re: STEER WEIGH INS 2011
« on: March 11, 2011, 02:54:09 PM »
Weighed in my steer last weekend, tipped the scales at 1050 and he's not due til the beginning of September for the county fair. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to hold him later on.

i got my steer last september weighting 1125 and our county show isnt untill this march we held him so hard making him only gain 25lbs in 3-4months. by no means to we starve him we had him on 6lbs a day of finisher and free choice of hay and he is just an easy keeper and stayed with us so well now he is up to a 50lb bag a day just to finish him out nice and boy do i mean nice. :) good luck! i like it better this way because if he ever stopped eating he has a few lbs to spare
