I have also seen this. I think the OP's concern is that they are selling calves that were born in February/March.
Not to offend anyone, but don't all babies look good at that point. haha.
This guy will not being overpaying for 2 month old calves, no matter how long they keep em.
My .02 cents.

Obviously not a mobile option, but I put these lights in my clipping room about waist high for my boys to see while they are doing bellies and legs.

I am in the same exact boat. Built a 60 x 100 last year. Pens on one side, office, wash rack, and tack/feed room on other. So basically a 30 x 100 lane down middle of barn.
I temporarily have outdoor carpet from pens to wash rack, but am seriously thinking of going with crushed granite.

I used Choppin Wood on a smaller type black Hairy Bear cow and had a good sized Smoke calf. He is about to be weaned, but looks like he is going to have some frame size to him. Biggest calf in the pasture. Long too. Nice turn of muscle as well.

I had a real good heifer out of a Hagrid cow, weighed about 80 at birth.
Super hairy and super sound. Honestly, the best one I had last year. Wished I would have bred her momma back the same way.
I dont have a pic handy, but she's good.

After we get them wet. we use a roller (pic attached)to pack them in good.
12" minimum and keep freshening them up often.
Good luck!

Our calf wouldn't eat it cooked this year, but eats it dry.
Don't ask me, but it works for him.

I thought he did an excellent job! He was thorough, and even when he got ahead of himself he would go back and correct it.
We got pulled, then he told my son why he could not use him. We already knew it, but he told my son in a nice way and I respected that.
I'd be happy to show under him any day. I loved the cattle that he picked too.

We were also class 2 AOB, got the gate. Greiner was easy to follow I thought. Picked good cattle. I had no problems with him, other than taking one home. Haha.
