The Big Show / Anyone going to Keystone
« on: September 05, 2019, 03:54:08 PM »
That wouldnt mind taking a Red Angus  heifer to show in the open class?  I think she is pretty decent, and I do t believe she will be a waste of anybodys time. She has been shown before, but my day job doesnt give me the freedom to take off at this time of year. I just feel she needs to be seen and shown.

The Big Show / A few calves we really like
« on: April 03, 2019, 11:15:17 AM »
Just wanted to share some non shorthorn calves!  ;D

First calf is a PB Red Angus heifer calf sired by LCA Haggard out of a Kargo first calf heifer. Shes  pretty nice for 6 days old here.

The 2nd is a Red Angus Calf by Haggard, out of a Bingo first calf heifer.

The black calf is a 3/4 Simmy by HPF Tradecraft out of a Steel Force cow we will likely make a donor.

EDIT- maybe later when I have time to resize images

The Big Show / Pelton Wideload calf
« on: February 23, 2019, 06:02:16 AM »
AJ, as promised here is a pic of my first Wideload calf. It was supposed to be a heifer, but I was 10% chance of a bull. 70lbs and very vigorous. The dam is a nice looking Red Blair's Bingo x Towaw Lakima 76m.

The Big Show / Simmental breeding opinions
« on: August 30, 2018, 02:29:16 PM »
Going to be a few months before I need to bred this one, but I like to think about things like this well in advance.  I have few bulls in mind, but to keep it completely unbiased I will keep them to myself for now.  This heifer is a Pays to Believe x Steel Force 3/4 blood, that needs a better tail set, slightly more level hip and some more length from hooks to pins.  Her docility is an issue as well.

I don't need a +20 CE and -5 BW bull, but a +8 CE and 0 BW would be just fine.  Lets see what y'all think!

The Big Show / A few calf pics
« on: May 16, 2018, 07:32:43 PM »
Not much field work or planting going on here this rainy evening and probably won't be for quite some time. So I figured I'd post a few pics of calves we like for y'all to see. If you have any questions ask away.

The first is an early Jan HPF Optimizer. We think she is going to make an awesome cow.

The second is a LLSF Pays to Believe ET calf. We have 16 full sibs in the tank that we are pretty jazzed up to get put in and calved out. We really like this calf from a show ring stand point.

The third is a late Nov heifer calf from a WS Pilgrim son. We really like her, and think she will be a good cow. We flushed her dam (PVF Insight PB Angus) to BMW Onset and MR CCF 20-20 and are really excited for those calls to hit the ground.

The solid black calf is a Jan 9th HPF Optimizer x Steel Force heifer calf from a first calf heifer. She weighed 65lbs at birth and hasn't stopped growing since that day.

The baldy is a Feb 21st Pays to Believe x Steel Force heifer calf from our donor cow. This calf is starting to fill out a bit and we are pretty excited about her.

We plan on trying our hand at showing some this year and figure we will will show both.

Just wanted some feedback on bulls to use and not use and how the heifers looked from certain bulls.

I got a 8mo bull calf that is currently in Arkansas that I need to get to MD.  Hoping to catch someone coming this way.  I can also come pick him up from some where close by if MD isn't an option.

Thanks for any help provided.

The Big Show / Anyone have any Loaded Up calves?
« on: October 21, 2017, 05:20:40 AM »
I have a heifer due in January that I would like to flush to Loaded Up. Only problem I have is she is pretty moderate, and Loaded Up looks pretty moderate. Is that a trait he is passing on to his calves?

I'll include a picture, other ideas for flushing/breeding are also appreciated.

The Big Show / 1/2 blood simmy calf
« on: September 24, 2017, 02:15:33 PM »
By far the best calf I had this spring. I'm letting her go in the "Sending You To The Backdrop" sale Oct 5th on Caldwell/Willoughby.

Poor Gargan has seen a million pictures of this calf, but thought everyone else would like to see her.

More CFM or more velocity? Which will be the most effective for cooling?

The Big Show / A few calf pictures

1st pic- One Eyed Jack heifer from a fancy 1/2 simmy commercial cow. My favorite commercial cow of the group.

2nd pic- KLS Halfblood bull calf out of our  Steel Force 1/2 simmy cow. She is a beast of a cow and will be the base of our herd moving forward.

3rd pic- KLS Halfblood out of a big broody 1/2 simmy cow, and it looks like this calf will follow her. She is wide and deep in all the right places.

The Big Show / FireSweepRanch, Hooks Broadway questions
« on: April 23, 2017, 02:16:37 PM »
How are the front shoulders and stature of your Broadway cattle?

I have a PB cow that is super fancy and really just needs her front shoulders smoothed up and more frame. I was thinking of using Broadway.

The Big Show / What happened to Hooks Broadway?!?!

How does one go from 10.1 calving ease to -1.1? He was my pick for a heifer I have here, now I'm worried. Does anyone know what happened or has anyone had any trouble with him?
