The Big Show / Hay Inflation
« on: August 20, 2011, 01:23:55 PM »
Hay in surrounding states of Texas is getting really inflated on the price. What does everyone think of this? I know Texans have sent hay out to these other states when they were in droughts at close to cost.

The Big Show / Thriller
« on: May 12, 2011, 09:11:50 PM »
I havent' heard any calving reports on Thriller and haven't seen many calf pics. I used him in a flush to one of my reg. Angus donors and got 6 calves this spring and only 1 was a heifer bred him to 2 others and got a really nice heifer out of an All Star reg Angus cow and a good steer prospect out of a big SimAngus cow. I think he crossed better with the reg Angus cows than he did with SimAngus.

1st pic is Thriller X All Star heifer
2nd pic is Thriller X Oscar 711 ET heifer ( cow raised Grand Angus Heifer Houston 09' )
3rd pic is rear of 3 Thrillers X Oscar 711 ET bulls

The Big Show / My Turn
« on: August 12, 2010, 06:38:11 PM »
I guess I have been raising Angus so long I forgot what big bone was. Last winter on here I asked about My turn on Angus cows. Some positive feedback led me to buy a few straws and try him on reg Angus. This morning I had a My Turn Bull out of a 14 yr. old Wehrmann cow and I didn't know that 1 Bull could add so much bone and hair in 1 generation. All I can say is "Wow My Turn".

The Big Show / Opinions on flush
« on: June 14, 2010, 08:43:57 PM »
I have a Reg. Angus Donor due to come in heat tommorrow morning. She has worked with everything she has been bred to. I am thinking of flushing her to Dr. Who and Thriller or should I Flush her to an Angus bull that she has had proven progeny.. She is an Oscar 711  and adds style and power. My goal is to get defect free females that I can breed to carriers.

The Big Show / Would you use this Bull?
« on: May 02, 2010, 11:41:33 AM »
Would you use a Angus Bull that was a Past Champion at Ft.worth, Tulsa, Reno, Denver,K.C., Louisville and Jackson Miss? What if this bull has sired Grand Champion Heifers at the biggest Junior Angus Shows in the Country in the last 3 years? Denver 07' , Ft. Worth the last 3 years all by different heifers, San Antonio 2 of the last 3 years, Houston 09' San Angelo 09'. These shows range from 150 head to 220 head. What if I told you there were 3 or less of this Bulls daughters entered in each showand he has had just over 100 calves? BW epd of 3.7 with excellent growth and milk #'s. I am needing opionions before I start to promote this Bull. He has never been promoted other than being in a couple different semen catalogs. Thanks in advance for any advise.
