The Big Show / Happy Armed Forces Day to All

President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country.

On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days.
The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.

Does anyone have any advice to share on this situation. There's this heifer that is absolutely sound when she walks in grass but when she has to walk on the asphalt or gravel to get to the ring she starts swinging out wide on her rear legs really bad. The first two shows she cut it out before actually going in the ring and she won the class quite handily (judges words, not mine). Yesterday she had a pretty far walk on the road to the ring and she did it in the ring and was put in last due to the crab walk. Is this an exercise issue or a legitament flexibility issue and what can we do to fix it. Like I said she fills her track on the move in grass flawlessly and she's a heck of a heifer. Will something like NS or glide help ? Thanks

The Big Show / Congrats to the "Savaged" family!
« on: September 02, 2012, 11:40:17 PM »
A big  (thumbsup) tonight for our very own Savaged. The Savage family pulled off the win tonight in Highland County beating out approx 100 other steers with the homegrown Monopoly Money calf! Easily the stoutest calf in the field tonight.

The Big Show / This blog... LOOK
« on: October 09, 2011, 03:28:38 PM »
is most definitely the best one I have ever seen...

all joking aside, heres something for you kids who are thinking about a career involving an Animal Science degree in college. the basic overview of it is in the side bar under my name and info stuff. its mostly just notes. writing out notes twice makes it virtually impossible for me to forget them so its my online notebook, so to say. Anyway, feel free to comment, repost, or correct me if you see something posted that intrigues you. I'd like as much input as possible from seasoned pro's (cowboy perhaps  ;) ) or kids still in high school thinking about what they want to learn about in the next level. New content will posted pretty much everyday.

The Big Show / Paternal Test for steer?
« on: September 04, 2011, 11:14:22 PM »
Hypothetically, how much would it cost to have one sample of DNA analyzed to find the sire of a calf? I raised a really good steer this spring, the cow calves right in between the two dates, calf isnt heavy or light, no color patterns to identify with etc etc. Could be either bull but I'm not sure. Bred the cow back to the one I think is the pappy but that's a long time from now.

The Big Show / Market Hog brings $34,000 for fallen 4H'er

I didn't know Andy Hayden personally but he was loved by a lot of people here. He was killed in a head on collision several weeks ago and his younger brothers were in critical condition. The Hayden family showed the hog anyway and this is what happened...
