The Big Show / Fair market animal weigh backs
« on: December 14, 2016, 10:30:00 AM »
Any fair have a rule on acceptable weigh backs on beef and hogs? In a % I'd assume. What's acceptable at the commercial level for shrink?

We weigh Wednesday night for class breaks to show Friday for the beef. Then are weighed again Sunday. Most of them weights are acceptable every year. Ones I see go thru Sale barn on Monday and Thursday sometimes make you scratch your head. Had one at 26% shrink last year from Sunday to Monday am............

Haven't seen any weights on hogs but if we are going to make a rule it will be all weighed market animals.

The Big Show / County fair health papers?
« on: June 09, 2016, 01:56:16 PM »
Any of your country fairs require health papers? We have always had vet check in all animals after they all get there. In this day in this world as a superintendent I think health papers would be better? Would add some cost to kids but some of these kids never work with a vet either and would get a relationship going with them too.

March calf that has really came along this year. I'm pretty proud of this one so far. Carries 50% Simmental papers.

The Big Show / Mossy Oak x Angus cow what to breed maternally?
« on: May 15, 2015, 03:07:00 PM »
I'll get a better picture but she is deep, soggy, sound, has clicked well with Heatwave but I want a heifer.

I was thinking SimAngus to balance her out a bit. I have W/C United in tank,

The Big Show / AI available 3/4 Simmental calving ease
« on: February 20, 2013, 11:10:25 AM »
Looking for an AI available 3/4 Simmental CALVING EASE sire. In a perfect world he would be HOMO Black and HOMO Polled and a baldy. Don't care what the other 1/4 is. Must be calving ease, trait trac GREEN, high MWW, and growth. I'm just drawing a blank on these bulls.

Using on 1/4 blood females and want to get them back to 1/2 bloods. Also would be great if there was no Legacy in the bull.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Misc, For Sale / Black and Yellow male lab pups
« on: August 31, 2011, 09:14:04 AM »
It was a litter of 11 pups with just the two left.  They will be nine weeks old this Friday and are ready to be in new homes. These guys will make excellent hunting dogs/family companions. The majority of this litter sold for $1000. We've been asking $500 for these last two but would take less at this point to get them into good homes.  Our website, www.tntvermillionriverkennels.com,  has the info on the parents and a facebook link to view the pups.

Please go to the website. I am posting them for my dad. He will be able to give you more info.

All I know about them is it sure is fun to go pheasant hunting and never lose a bird and watch these amazing dogs work.

Our county Cattlemen host a club calf sale on Nov. 5th and we are trying to find a judge or someone who really knows what they are talking about and putting on a 2 hour showmanship clinic before our sale. Someone close would be great!

14
Most of these calves will be at our Cattlemen's sale later this fall.
