The Big Show / Commercial Shorthorn Bull
« on: May 13, 2016, 06:48:25 PM »
People often discuss on this board that quality commercial Shorthorn genetics are not available anywhere. This guy is my definition of an ideal Shorthorn bull. Homo polled, backed by performance and carcass data, daughters in production, and above all form that follows function.

The Big Show / SULL GNCC Urlacher ET Then and Now
« on: May 06, 2012, 05:57:15 PM »
I find it interesting as I look through most semen catalogs that almost all Shorthorn bulls are pictured as yearlings.  Then 5 years later that is still the only pic that you see.  I thought I would post a picture of our Senior Herd Sire when we bought him in 2008 and today. I have also attached a picture of a daughter sired by Urlacher out on pasture.

I realize that for the most part bulls are not pictured as aged bulls because they simple are not as impressive. However, in my opinion that is the picture that SHOULD be more impressive, and is the one I want to see. JMHO

The Big Show / Saskvalley Imperative 33X home in Illinois!
« on: April 29, 2012, 07:59:42 PM »
Well after 3 weeks, a really long drive, and some trouble with the Iowa State Police Saskvalley Imperative is finally home in Central Illinois. I couldn't be more pleased with him and would really like to thank Saskvalley Shorthorns, Derek Jungels, and Dale Studer for getting him home. This photo was taken less than 24 hours after a 30 hour trailer ride. I can honestly say if it wasn't for steer planet I would have never found this bull!

The Big Show / TM Gus bull calf
« on: April 07, 2012, 03:57:46 PM »
About a year ago I posted a pic of this Tm Gus X K-Kim Castlerock son on SP. I thought I would post another picture about a year later to show his progress. We just sold him to Tony Kershaw (Ex-Herdsman for Don Cagwin). Tony came to look at heifers and left with a bull. Who said you can't sell roan horned bulls in Illinois? :)

The Big Show / Thoughts on Pro Livestock Marketing Website
« on: November 03, 2011, 07:52:23 PM »
I noticed the website icon while I was on SP last week, so I called the guy up and posted a few animals for sale. For those grain producers out there it reminds me a lot if tractorhouse only for livestock. I like it because it could be a one stop shop for a buyers needs. What does everyone else think?

The Big Show / Shorty Bulls
« on: April 17, 2011, 02:12:18 PM »
I am new to SP, but have been a silent observer for a few years now.  It is a beautiful day here in central, Illinois, but far to wet to put corn in the ground. I attached a few pictures of a bull we plan on using, and his maternal brother born this spring. Both bulls are pretty dirty due to our current weather situation. Any thoughts?
