The Big Show / Any Fallborn Calves in South AR!
« on: May 09, 2012, 10:22:42 PM »
I am going to be traveling through South AR on Friday on my was from NW Louisiana to Malvern, AR.  Anyone in that area or along the way have any Fallborn Steers or Heifer Prospects of any age to stop and look at? Got one place lined up to look at when I get to where I am going on Friday evening, just wondered if there were any other places I should stop?

The Big Show / Its Derby Day!!!
« on: May 05, 2012, 02:26:55 PM »
So this is just for fun, its Kentucky Derby Day.  Anybody on here follow the ponies?  If so who are your picks this afternoon?

Personally, I agree with most of the handicappers, I think Union Rags is the horse to beat.  After him I kindal like Hansen to get a piece of it, and as far as a 3rd horse I am kind of undecided.

The Big Show / Apalled by a breeders behavior after a show!!!
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:01:05 PM »
So I was in Jackson all weekend for the Dixie Nationals, came home last night and was scrolling through facebook just catching up when I came across a post that a breeder I am facebook friends with posted to a very prominent judges that I am also friends with wall.
This breeder raises and shows in one of the lesser competive breeds and has had a great deal of success, has a few currently in his showstring that have been doing really well so far this year and he had gone down and shown at the Open Show at San Antonio this weekend.  Apparantly the judge, who is very well known and I think a very upstanding judge, did not like this gentlemens cattle as much as some of the other judges because he apparantly put them very low in their classes.
This breeder went home and posted, publicly on the judges wall informing the judge of how well the cattle had done at previous shows and how low the judge had used them on this particular day.  He then went on to say that this judge obviously didnt know anything about evaluating show cattle and that he was obviously playing the politics game pretty heavily or he was just a complete idiot, but he preferred the latter.
This was a grown man, who has grown children that grew up showing.  I have struggled with if I would put his name in this post or not because a big part of me wants to publicly call him out on this absolutely childish, rude, and inappropriate behavior.  A grown man throwing a tantrum like this because he didnt win, and he did so publicly on facebook for everyone to see.  How do we expect the youth, that look up to and copy breeders like this who have succes, to have good sportsmanship when the succesful adults are publicly having tantrums like this because their cattle didnt win.  I think it was completely uncalled for, unacceptable and that he should be ashamed of himself and publicly appologize to the judge.

The Big Show / UPDATE: SAU Stolen Horses Case
« on: December 06, 2011, 06:14:14 PM »
This received some attention on here a few weeks ago after the 5 horses and trailer were stolen from the Rodeo Team Barn @ Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR.  4 of the horses were found tied in the woods in OK a few weeks later, malnourished and dehydrated but otherwise in ok shape.  1 horse, "Credit Card", was found shot, neck slit, and dismembered a few weeks later.  Many people had suspected the horses may have been stolen by a competitor.  An arrest was made yesterday in the case, the person responsible for the thefts, a freshman girl who turned 19 today, was one of their very own team members.  I dont have all the info yet, but from what I hear she was apparantly romantically involved with the student who rode Credit Card and apparantly had said she wanted the horse dead.  Beyond that Idont know any motives, she has her first court appearance tommorow.  I think she is charged with 2 counts of Felony Theft over $25,000 for Credit Card and one other horse, and 4 counts of Felony Theft $5,000 - $25,000 for the other 3 horses and the trailer.  The horses were found near her families property in OK.  There are 2 other suspects, who I presume are her mother and step father.  They say the truck that stole the trailer matched vehicles driven by both, and her step dad is the one responsible for killing and dismembering Credit Card for easier disposal.  The state of Oklahoma is also going to be charging her with 6 counts of bringing stolen property across state lines and 5 counts of animal cruelty.
I know they have set up a scholarship fund in Credit Card's name, his owners have stated that rather than be reimbursed for him they would rather a scholarship be set up in his name.  I know a lot of people from around the country are donating to the fund. I will try to get the information on that.

Wanted / Used Show Equipment & Trailer!
« on: October 31, 2011, 10:45:26 AM »
Trying to help a family out that just got back into showing...they lost everything a few years ago and are looking to start over. They pretty much need everything. Blowers, fans, show halters, trim chute, clippers, etc.  They are trying to get what they can used so they dont have to buy everything new.  The guy is an electrician so he said he would even be willing to take blowers and fans that are not working off of people's hands and see if he can get them working again.
He is also looking for a used 16 ft bumperpull trailer, again if it needs some work that is fine as he is willing to do some work.

Would prefer someone located in TX.

If you have anything please let me know.

Jarred Haynie

P.S. I pretty much always have a client somewhere looking for good used equipment so if you ever have anything you need to get rid of shoot me an email and I can most likely move it for you.

Cattle For Sale / Simbrah Show Prospects
« on: October 04, 2011, 02:17:29 PM »
This kinda goes with the post about the Simbrah Donor Prospect post.  Reallizing that it is sometimes easier to sell a show prospect than a 2 yr old cow Mr Carlos Guerra has offered some show prospects for trade for the young man's older heifer.  He has told him that he can either trade flat out, or given the option of us selling one of these heifers and giving Mr Carlos Nathan's heifer.  Seeing as he really wants to go to a more clubby type calf we would rather sell one of these heifers.  All are currently located at LaMuneca Cattle Co. in Texas and Priced at $5,000.
Contact me at 936-234-0829 if you have any other questions.
We would also consider trade for a good registerable clubby type female or an exotic type spring born steer!

This is an October 2009 model Simbrah Donor Prospect I am trying to help a young man in Natchitoches, LA sell.
LMC Red Velvet is out of the highly popular Johny Walker bull that LaMuneca produced then syndicated and a very successful LaToya donor at LaMuneca.  This heifer is bred to LMC Wave Amigo for a April/May 2012 calf.
LMC Red Velvet has been undefeated in Louisiana Jr Shows and stood 3rd at the 2011 Houston Open Show.  I was not present at the show but have heard several people remark that they feel she should have won the class.  This heifer is an extremely easy keeper, very growthy, huge boned, sound as a cat, extremely deep, thick, and has a ton of rib shape.  I feel this heifer should absolutely be in someone's Simbrah donor pen and could even produce some very competive American steers if you bred her to one of the smaller clubbies.  She is without a doubt one of the thickest American heifers I have ever seen.
He has dropped the price on the heifer to $5,000 which I feel she is worth just as a cow carrying a natural calf each year, and a steal for her as a donor prospect.  This young man would love to keep this heifer to flush and sell calves off of himself, unfortunately he is not set up to keep a cow, so she must go to make room for the next show calf.  Also willing to consider trades on a good spring born clubby type registerable heifer or a steer.
Please contact me @ 936-234-0829 if you have any further questions.

The Big Show / Need a low end steer in east texas!!!
« on: September 22, 2011, 10:53:38 PM »
I know this belongs in classifieds but kind of in a crunch here so seeing if anyone can offer any assistance. Had an area Ag Teacher contact me today and say that he had a young student walk in today and say he decided to show a steer. Their show is early Feb and is slick, problem is their validation is Oct 15 so we only have about 3 weeks to find this guy a steer.  Their show is very small and not very competitive, even if he makes the sale he will only get about $2,000 so we would like to stay somewhere under $1500 if possible.  I realize that these low end calves have probably gone to the market by now, but if anyone has anything hanging on out there please let me know.  Just trying to see if we can find this kid a first year project!!!

Trying to help some folks make some flyers for some events coming up in their county, looking for some good clipart, really would like the sillouhette type stuff, have steers, but looking for a good hog, goat, and lamb, and also something with an exhibitor in it would be cool to.  If anyone knows where I can find something like this I would appreciate it.
