Are there any permits required from the cfia to bring say a pallet of mineral across the border into canada?

I deeply apologize for the connotation of this post, i did not mean to direct this towards any individual buyer or seller.
I was simply trying to justify as to why but that is no excuse for what I stated.
sorry for my narrow mindedness.

Thanks for the reply, i was thinking of giving dixon farms a call. Have you used the bull much yourself? His pedigree is a little different and find his sire to be quite impressive.

I get bored every now and than at University and I like to look through bull and donor pedigrees.
I found these 5 bulls showing up quite a bit in some of the more showy donors:
Diamond Leggs 21
Creole 9590
HS Rodeo Drive
Prime Time Paymaster
Hill Haven Bold<(believe he's canadian)
Wondering if any of this semen is still available in canada.

The Big Show / Re: Canada vs U.S. Shorthorn purity

To make a distinction for the Maine influenced and not for the Irish influenced seems misleading to me as clearly neither are Shorthorns.  They both brought the same thing to the table, the Fullblood Maines just brought it w/ more punch.
Just curious, what breed were the Irish "shorthorns" that were brought over, I thought I read somewhere on SP that there was some Galloway infusion in the past during one of the  world wars but I thought those still consisted of mainly high percentage shorthorns.

Why does the CSA not consider full blood Maines 3/4 shorthorns like the ASA? I was considering purchasing a heifer by Red Reward, but when I checked her percentage with the CSA they told me she is only considered 65.4% shorthorn. Where as with the American shorthorn association she is considered a purebred.

that is a tough mountain to climb, I showed a heifer this past show season, she was born april 17 and she just couldn't quite compete with those older heifers. I ended up pushing her a little to hard and now i kind of regret it. Your heifer looks good though.

It's going to be my first time making trip down through South Dakota and Iowa, can anyone suggest some popular Maine Anjou operations to visit. I'm looking for a foundation female for my herd.

Do you know how long this offer is on for, I am guessing they are trying to sell old semen and I like to get a few straws of hannibal in the tank.

Willow springs, I am guessing you are from Canada because all of those bulls are amongst the few that abs Canada carries for clubbies. If I were you I would take a look at what Semex, genex, and competitive edge has to offer, I think that they have a lot more to offer if you are looking to raise steers. As far as those bulls go I have a rainmaker (man child son) heifer that my little brother showed she's got a lot of top, bone and hair but not quite enough muscle for my liking. If she was a steer there would be no way I think she would make it as a fat, regardless she's very attractive from the profile and did well in the show ring. The bill that intrigues me most out o that listing is Hannibal, he is one of if not the only son of WMW left in Canada and I am planning on buying some semen on him. I'm putting in some steel force x PB angus embryos next spring and if the female has the right phenotype that's how I am breeding her.

One bull I am not familiar with is direct draft couldn't find any info on linee,is he a draft pick son, or a direct hit son, possibly a mixture of the two?

We have a couple of cows that have thrown spastic paresis and monkey mouth - genetic defects for which there is no test available.  We choose to breed these cows conservatively avoiding Power Plant and other known or suspected carriers of these defects.  A dam of a promo bull called "Joe's Donor 123" does not help show what all might be lurking around back in the genetic profile.  I usually try to look at the dam side even more critically than I do the sire side and it is a bummer to have only one generation back if that.
I totally agree, The dam is the foundation in which each bull is built from. That's why I think all of these bull promoters should be held more accountable. The clubby industry would prosper more if we avoided these simple lies. Pedigree info, birth weights and date of birth should all be represented truthfully.
