Anybody know the TH & PHA status of Whizard? His pedigree would suggest double clean.

Send email to sales@salsmans.com. They can tell you of a good baler guy in your area.

Used him on a great big Draft Pick cow. Heifer calf was 80 lbs at birth. She has awesome hair but size is a bit of an issue. She is growing but will never be very big. Other than that she has good bone and is very sound.

If you read the tiny, tiny fine print on the label it says it is injected with up to 12% solution to improve flavor and tenderness. I not going to pay $8/lbs for water and flavor enhancing chemicals. I'm not a Walmart hater just a 100% beef lover.

Go with the Suh heifer for raising Maine cattle. Today's Maine cattle are black. You will constantly fight the red color and white legs with her offspring. Most of the GVC cattle are homo polled and homo black for several generations and those GVC genetics are hard to beat in the PB Maine business.

I still have some Outrageous in my tank. I bred a few heifers to him about 6-7 yrs ago. Both calves were good growthy calves but definitely not show calves. Turns out we tested the hfrs later and they were both PHAC. Talk about lucky!

My guess is both matings could produce light to dark grey, yellow, or red/orange, brown calves.

When I got home I did some research and found putzlivestock.com. I also got my Show Circuit today and see there's an ad this month. Might try Mitten Man or Repair Man on a few of my Maine cows. MM is the right size and is sound as a cat at 7 yrs old. I called Don tonight and he's pretty high on his new full brother to Stands Alone that he calls Stands Out. Said he's as good or maybe better. Guess he was at the stud too but I must have missed him. Darn... guess I'll have to make another trip.  ;D

Was up at Nichols today and saw Mitten Man and Repair Man. Dam they look really good! Pretty cool to see a big sound mature club calf bull in great shape. Reminded me of Dr Who when he was there a few yrs ago. Jay said he thought MM was 7 or 8 yrs old and Repair Man was 3. Anybody else seen them?

There are a couple different sizes; baby calves and a bit larger. If  giving pills to anything 1000 lbs or bigger I always use a pipe and a stick to push the pills down. The balling guns I have are not long enough or tough enough to do adult-size animals.

Why don't you post the calf pics on your blog?

The Big Show / Re: early morning calving cks have begun

I used to do several late night checks until I moved calving to end of March. Now I just do it once unless there isn't anything looking real close. I have a pretty small herd of mature cows and know their calving habits pretty well. If they calve at night it is warn enough that they will be ok until morning.
