There are quite a few ways you can track visitors on your website.

1.  Basic Counter - registers everytime a specific page is loaded, usually display on the site for all to see
2.  Raw Server logs - registers ALL activity on your server without filtering out bots, 404s, etc
3.  Tracking codes - such as google analytics, added to each page or to a common footer, it is able to decipher accurate metrics

The most accurate and most insightful is using a tracking code.  

Below is a copy of a google analytics report.  What is showing is just the tip of the iceberg of the information that is available.

2nd image is a copy of server logs that have formatted by webalizer.

I really wish I would NOT have used iWeb to build my mom's site.  My wife is a Mac person, and I definately am not!  Anyways, having trouble getting google analytics to run with MobleMe and iWeb. 

Sooner or later I'm going to switch the site to DreamWeaver.

Rapidweaver is a great alt. to IWeb.  I have used IWeb and switched over to RW. <rock>
