I was at a jackpot show this past weekend and seen a lot of nice pigs. Mine did good even though they didnt place I was still happy with how they moved in the ring. However I seen a lot of pigs trotting around with their heads high and the judge said the exhibitors really worked with their pigs. Well I work with my pigs 2 times a day and they dont do this. How would you go about teaching a pig to hold their head up?

use your stick under their chin to get them to raise their head also ppl have said to put vaseline on their nose before entering the ring

use your stick under the jaw to get their head up...repetition, repetition, repetition....also put feeders and waterers up where they have to reach up for them...if you are giving them treats or anything dont bend down to their level always make them look up to get them...and one that has worked for me in the past, surround their pen with plywood at a level that they have to look up to see out...our pen was in corner of show barn and this worked extremely well for us

vick's vapor rub.. it works wonders. at the shows i have competed at using it at the show is not allowed but you can do it throughout the practice time with emm. i start with the vick's vapor rub and then swap with using just the show pipe under the chin slowly it will learn to keep its head up even if you just have to hit the chin at show to make it. i also use vapor rub with my poultry when they become cannibalistic just fyi for all the poultry raisers it actually works.

This may sound stupid, but I've never heard of using vicks or anything. Do you put it under their chin, so they put their nose up against the smell. Or above the snout becuase they are intrigued by it?

anything sweet that you can put on your showstick or whip, marshmallows work very well, if you get the marshmallow real mushy you can usually get it to stick to your whip
