need a show pig for next year?!

next year will be my first year showing a pig i don't really care what breed just want one that will stick out hoping to get grand will travel to get one any state close to Michigan

anyone? no one knows of any good pig farms? willing to travel about 8 hrs

when is your show? most market pigs are only 5-6 months old when they show, so sows want even be bred to produce litters the right age for your show until about 9 or 10 months prior to show. there are several good farms out there and a lot of good online sales. knowing when your show is will help a lot in pointing you in right direction

july 12 is when our fair was this year but i think it got moved up a month

Well if your fair is early July then you should be doing pretty well to find pigs, especially from the big breeders because they are going to need to be around the same age as the world pork expo pigs.

i have no idea who raises pigs around here so can ya help me there lol

several good pig breeders in Allegan co. and Jackson co.

Doherty's have a couple on line sales in spring timed right for your fair.  They have sent other pigs to MI and IN.

They are great at giving advice and helping after the sale to help you along.  Something that is pretty important if you haven't shown pigs before.

Go to the Green & White show in January. You should be able to make some connections there. Tim Trattles in St Joseph county raises some good ones.
