I admit that I raise and show beef, not swine...but I am hoping that some of you can help me out. I have been on our local 4-H/FFA Fair Board for the last three years. I am wondering if people have increased their biosecurity measures...if your county is cancelling the spring swine weigh-in, any other changes that will be made to your county fair show this year, etc. (BECAUSE OF THE PED VIRUS) Thanks!

Our county has never had a spring weigh-in but i believe they are now considering not letting anyone take their hogs home, thay all have to be sold

No weigh-ins and no rate of gain this year. Pigs do not have to qualify at county in order to show at state fair. Our county decided not to make it a mandatory terminal show, but leave it up to the exhibitor. I believe some exhibitors will not bring their pigs home from county and will take a different set of hogs to state, while those exhibitors with just a few head will take a chance on showing at county and hope they stay healthy for state.
