PaFFA Proud:
Ok its my first time with pigs just a few questions. Ok first do they have teeth in the front of their mouth? Also when they jump up in the air for fingers are they playing? Also how do you go about training them to walk to practice for show? Thanks!

I don't know if  pigs are born with teeth, but we have never had newborns.  I believe they usually have all of their teeth by 2-3 months.  Generally when they are sort of "jumping" they are playing or trying to see if you have any food.  Pigs are on the most part very friendly and very, very smart.  You can train them rather quickly.  To prepare our hogs for the show we do a lot of walking.  Using a pig pipe or whip or whatever you plan on using in the show.  Just tap them on the front shoulder as you would in the show ring.  The more you walk the better they will become.   Our pigs tend to run around quite a bit in the pen when we first start walking them outside, but after walking them daily they start to calm down.  Good luck!

I will echo the smart comment and it your fences are not good, they will find away out.

Also they do get teeth fairly quick and they were probably playing

CAB:
Pigs are born with teeth and will start eating feed very young. Most producers clip their needle teeth, which there are 4 of, the first day. It prevents a lot of fighting and biting each other while fighting for their own nipple and also saves the sow from accidently getting bit on the nipple causing her to get up then increasing the chance of crushing a newborn when she lays back down.

We put a free choice feeder in with all litters at about 5 days of age!  Clip needle teeth, notch ears, and give iron shots when they are 24 hours old.  Dock tails, castrate, and give 2nd iron shot at 10 days old, wean showpigs, vaccinate for Flu/Circo/Myco/Ery, and worm at 28 days.
Pigs are extremely intelligent and they will play, if they know you generally have food or treats in your hands they will try to jump for the sometimes.  But you have to be careful, there are some bloodlines out there that are known for being aggressive, and they will flat come after you any time your in the pen with them.  Just like any other animal you have to curtail this behavior at a young age.
