I think the difference is and what makes people question these high dollar cattle is the disparaging difference between the purchase price and the real intrinsic or salvage value of the beef animal.  The guy that buys the combine has bought an asset that reasonably retains its value and has a definitive price or worth in the market.  Many bulls that bring 8-15k+ bring 90 cents/lb through the salebarn just a few short years later.
