I am working on a baby name list and I am having difficulty coming up with "A" names, I would really like something unique or old fashion.

Old fashioned is the new unique. There have been so many trendy new names that ppl found in the little baby name book at the grocery store checkout that past generation's old stand by names are now sounding new and exciting. My wife and I came very close to naming our last son Abraham. That would fit your criteria for a boy. We would have called him Abe. We ended up settling on Samuel

I almost named my last son Augustus but didn't think it would look right to name him that when that was the name of my stock dog. Went to the other end of the alphabet and named him Wyatt Zane instead.RW

Amel is a good name.  Can be either gender...not sure how you like the sound of Amel Pesrl, although Amelia Pearl has a nice ring to it.

means hope, hard work, pure, ...everything to do with agriculture.  it has hebrew and sanskrit ties among others.
