We pictured cattle this previous weekend, and I kinda wanted to show off the first two calves by our young donor, OLSN Revival.  The cow herself was only shown once, and was Reserve Grand Champion at the IL State Fair 2013.

Her first calf is by TM Gus and has been a great show heifer for us so far, and will be in Louisville.

The second calf is her first ET calf, a May bull calf sired by TRNR Deception. I love this bull, and we will be showing him next year.

I believe this donor cow has the needed qualities to change many people's minds about Shorthorn show cattle.

Is this the Reg number for the sire of your bull calf?  4199715  Your bull calf looks really good.  Im anxious to see him.

Yep, that's the right number.  I think this will be one of the first Deception sons to be shown and promoted.

As an aside, we are interested in selling 1/2 interest in both of these animals.  That's not what this post is for, but I'd be glad to talk with anyone that might interested in such things.

Mark, you must really like Maine influenced cattle.  The 8108 bull is impressive to look at but, his sire is a purebred Maine and he is an AR on his pedigree .  Sure he is no different than red reward and the likes but, I prefer some of their older breeding.  The Martin's  are great people.  Olsn, like the cattle you have pictured good luck at the NAILE.

if you look at his pedigree on both sides it is mostly thier old breeding like SSH Stetson, Power Dream, etc. Which went back to chi with Dreamboat and cunia through the Millbrooke cattle:and Guiness -Dividend His dams pedigree and his sire would be 20 plus years back. There was one other DMCC bull they used and showed out of AF Warrier. I personally liked the white Super Duty bull out of Durango, who was out of thier old breeding and related to this bull, and Blaster, the Double Stuff son from the mid 90s.There arent really many thick EZ calving ,non name drop,non-syndicated,non-50-100 per straw, bulls WITH old genetics (other than Durango his dams sire who is out of Rose T 90) that the huddled masses can use: and that have the grow he produces.I like Hot Commodity, the Jazzes etc, but this one would physically make 2 Hot Commoditys. The only one I see close and avail. right now with similar characteristics and some older different breeding is Kane Captain, but no calves that I know of yet. Mark, I agree more people should have used the super duty bull he was great.  I am in agreement also,  on the fact that there aren't any known or well promoted genetics that go back to the older lines(except the Canadian cattle).  I guess I have a new task of making some relevant but, unknown bulls available.

I hope you turn some cattle up out your way: there have to be some pockets of cool cattle way west,I allways wondered how the cattle turned out at Chad Nobles, I was at louisville when Special Effect won-and he along with Steermaker-was in the very forefront of the thicker cattle that came only a couple years later.Right or wrong-Shorthorns changed THE ENTIRE club calf industry-between Heatseaker and Double Stuff:and for a good while they ruled. Fashions have changed, and all cattle seem to just get better and better-but even 3 generations back in the pedigree-they still are very important:just follow the sales-very few of them are no-sales-MANY, arei n the top 3-of mostly black calves:even if they are black too O0

I realize there is a lot of Maine Anjou breeding in shorthorns but this Enticer bull, good as he is, it really seems the Maine Anjou breed should get the bragging rights.  Martindell's have bred some very good cattle. Crawford's in Ontario bought and impressive bull from them, MARTINDELL THE ANSWER 0111 about 3 years ago.

Niether mark Mueller-who had a great deal to do with where Maines are today-nor Martins EVER got thier dues. O0
