I agree that firewater needs to be mated correctly in order to avoid problems. His popularity is due to two things he has and passes on to most of his calves, a level attractive hip and tail head and jet fronts. Doesn't hurt he is owned and promoted by Thomas's. I wou.d protect him on depth of body and center rib shape. A lot of angus cattle could benefit by being bred this way. The resulting daughters would male for a productive steer momma group with no th issues and unlimited breeding potential. Not saying he is the only bull to work like this but I'm giving one example of how he could be utilized.

Keep in mind meyer 734 was from another time, much larger frame score, horns and a lot of white. Simmental cattle were still very performance based with a lot of milk in mind. With this comes udder problems, udder suspension, teat shape can really take a beating. Yes there are some very nice uddered Meyer daughters in production but there are a fair few ugly ones for every great one.
