I would like to see a photo of your heifer calf.
At this years Agribition the Reserve Champion bull was out of a Diamond Captain Mark 27C cow as was the Reserve Champion female. One of our very best two year old heifers is a daughter. As well a grandson of Captain Mark sold out of the stalls at Agribition to a commercial breeder for 10,000.
Had 3 bull calves this year. Two that had to be pulled--one out of a shorthorn cow and one out of a charolais cow. Third one out of a Aviator cow that was still big but she had on her own. Kept one of the three and it will be shown at our county fair. Not real impressed with how BIG the calves were.
O i c? Hung mine off the scale 2 days after she was born,90 lbs. I havent been around the farm in between chorse this week, will be this weekend tho. ia girl id possible be interested in acouple more straws if u have any in your tank, were u located?
Had one last year and she taped at 100. Out of a clubby cow that has had 120lbers. Never helped her have a calf. Had one other a few years ago, another heifer, out of a Vortec purebred, she had a front leg hung up so after I straitened it out she fell out 87lbs. Love the cows they make.
I have had several 27C calves over the years. I have never assisted any at birth. The biggest one I remember was 105 lb ET bull out of a huge Gelbvieh recip cow. She coughed about 3 times and the calf was born. Our Reserve Grand bull that okotoks referred to above, is by our Timeline bull and out of a 27C daughter ( Elsie's Jade). He was 90 lbs at birth. 27C certainly adds thickness and makes them easy fleshing.
