I doubt 2012 is the end of the world. However since the Mayan calendar is based on the alignment of planets it almost makes more sense then the 2000 disaster or a goofball Nostrilnomas deal. Could the tilt of the earth change somehow because of the stars alignment is different?. Could Florida become the north pole? I am not to worried about it but I have ordered a bazooka and 12 year supply of canned goods. With my 7 pit bulls and a 50 caliber anti tank gun(on a tripod) I do feel pretty safe. I may bring it up at our next posse comatotus and survivalist meeting. ;D

the tilt of the earth changes all the time and supposedly the magnetic poles have changed as well.

i always wondered if the mayans knew when the end was, why they couldn't figure out when their end would be.

my prediction.  the future is ahead of us.

The world may not be ending but something might be freezing over, I understand something Knabe said.
I too thought the same thing about the end of the Mayans. So I am hoping for the best. The kids are asking questions though and I hate not having a better answere then we will have to see.

Many scholars believe that the Mayan calendar was made to just begin again. Start over at their beginning.

The Mayan calendar comes to an end in 2012, but contrary to the popular belief it is not a prediction of the end of the world.  It is more of an end of the world as we know it to be.  Through their history this is an event that has been recorded either 5 or 6 times.  It is a prophecy of sorts but there is far more to it than is generally known, the Mayan descendants know more details of its entire contents, but it is their choice whether or not they reveal them.  There is some really interesting material out there on the whole subject.  One man who has worked quite closely with the Maya over many years,  Drunvalo Melchizedek,  I heard in an interview hinted that the Maya themselves might be releasing a movie that discusses the subject in more detail.
