2018 Herd Bull Line Up
« on: June 23, 2018, 05:13:46 PM »
This year we have some new bulls in the herd bull line up, a lot with similar pedigrees to the last few years. Diamond Lord Belmore 56B headed to Manitoba this spring and and his paternal brother Diamond Belvedere 29B came back to the Diamond. Diamond Delux 15D a paternal brother to both Lord Belmore 56B and Belvevedere 29b all being sons of The Grove Kookaburra W735 .We also used a son of Diamond Lord Belmore 56B, Diamond Empire 6E. Diamond Dundee 26D was used on heifers again as well as Diamond Exceptional 2E a son of Weebollabolla Theodore. We also used Diamond Easy 5E on a few head, he is a son of Coalpitt Creek Leader 6th out of a daughter of Herbourne B Manitoba Gus 13Z.

Thanks Duncraggan
We are really pleased with the new ASA BOLT One Step EPD's of these bulls especially the Grove Kookaburra W735 sons. Kookaburra W735 is an 8 time trait leader for EBV's in Australia and above average for almost every trait and Belvedere and Delux are exhibiting similar numbers.

Delux is impressive in his photo.  It would be difficult to find another pair of herd bulls with EPD's any better than his and Belvedere's.  Belvedere is pleasing to the eye, and that is in his work clothes.  Have you considered offering semen on them?

Thanks. We are really happy with them. We might collect them if there was enough interest but getting them collected for the USA is pretty expensive. It's kind of stupid all the tests AI bulls go through to go north or south of the border when the bulls themselves can cross so easily. WE did collect a paternal brother by The Grove Kookaburra W735 that has better calving ease #'s but a little less performance. There is some semen from him at Hawkeye in Iowa, Diamond Lord Belmore 56B. We have had good demand for his sons from commercial customers and couple of the top end to purebred herds.

I think you're on to something with the Kookaburra bull and am looking forward to his data hitting the system.

I've only had two, but I put Belmore back into a few of my better cows this year after seeing the calves. Both bull calves weighed 76lbs.

No, one was out of a Taylor Made 7Y an the other a Saskvally Imagine 65x. If the better of the two comes back Myostatin free he might get to cover red angus cross cows though.

I think one of those guys would really work on Red Angus!
We used a (son 6D) of Diamond Lord Belmore 56B on heifers last year and have some really nice heifer calves by him. Diamond Dynamite 6D, he is now a herd sire at Woodruff Ranches. The heifer calves in the photos are by him. The light roan bull is also a grandson of Lord Belmore and he is breeding a few heifers at Woodruff Ranches this summer.
The last photo is a two year old daughter of Diamond Lord Belmore 56B with her Diamond Dundee 26D heifer calf.

I got to see Diamond Dynamite 6D and Diamond Cowboy's Escapade 55E out on pasture at Woodruff Ranches yesterday. Dynamite is by Diamond Lord Belmore 56B and Escapade is out of a Diamond Lord Belmore 56B daughter. We used Dynamite last year and those are some of his heifer calves pictured above.

Thanks, Escapade has had "the look" from the start. I think he ticks a lot of boxes and has some nice muscle expression(he's tested free of myostatin variants too so that's a plus in my mind)
Here is one of the first bull calves by the Dynamite 6D bull and out of a two year old Saskvalley Wholesale 114W daughter, Double Star SVW Rose 60D. Wholesale is also the sire of Saskvalley Yesterday 116Y.
