I look forward to the sales each year!  I will definitely be at Studer/Berg because it is right down the road, not sure about the others yet- depends on where we are in the field work schedule.
Hope to see everyone there and meet some more SteerPlanet friends in person!

Sue--I'll be looking at the entire 4 lot very closely.  Mona Lisa 35L is probably my all time favorite cow in the breed.

Shorty Gal--I haven't seen Hagie's cattle yet.  I've heard from very reliable sources, however, that it is an extremely deep set of females!!
I'll be checking them out Thursday afternoon.

I think that is the 2nd mona lisa I have picked out this year. Gana Nisley - lot 3 ?
Usually I try to pick a heifer in every sale.
26 at Studers- dont know if she will show though?. I am torn over cyt offering right now.  Duis has the bull this year ( blazer). The coolest TM gus is Jungel's Patty selling in the futurity.

Hagie's offering is very, very deep.    A lot of excellent heifers.  I particularly like  1a, 12, 3b, 7a & 7b.  I think its very hard to pick between these animals.  Very well presented as always!!

Well, the first sale is now over.... an excellent sale! Cyclone Trace sold 51 individuals for a gross of $490,450 and an average of $9616. There were 37 actual lots in the sale catalog.27 heifer calves grossed $391,050 to average $14483.

I had several I really liked but didn't get any bought. I was pleased that a heifer calf ( lot 14) resulting from a flush I did on one of our donors Saskvalley Marianne 36H sold for $17,000. It is always good to see one of your customers do well with their purchase from you. Looked like I was not the only person not to get anything purchased. A great crowd attended the sale!

Two more excellent sales to go...

Any word on the Studer sale today? I spent 7 hours with my wife at the emergency room at the hospital and missed the sale. ( Chris is OK, but it turns out she has a blood clot in her leg after having a cast on for a broken ankle. She is going to have to be careful for a while)  The Studer offering looked like a good set of cattle. I hope it went well!

(BTW, after 7 hours in an emergency room, I came home feeling that our society is doomed! To the people who work in the emergency rooms across North America.... you don't get paid near enough!)

So where is this broken US economy I keep hearing about? I just heard that the Sullivan sale today was a record breaker. $98,000 top heifer. I was told it may be the biggest crowd ever at a Shorthorn sale in over 50 years. I never heard any averages but just that the sale was tremendous from front to back. Looking forward to hearing more... any reports would be appreciated.

Kinda makes me wonder where they would ever put all the people if they ever raised real world cattle. BTW, John Sullivan has sold the most Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus bulls to commercial producers in the past few years, than any other breeder in the US. Makes me wonder what is wrong with these people. Don't they know these cattle won't work commercially?
Guess the reason is that what is considered " real world" has a different definition depending on where you live.
