I was out in the field tonight and took some pics with my phone, thought I would post some here. Pretty happy with our Spring calf crop. We have a good mix of bulls and heifers, and most of the bulls are pretty nice. So here goes...
The first photo is a Lock N Load x SS U Misti Nights embryo bull calf, born President's day (thus, we call him Pres or Bush). Super impressed with him, big boned and wide topped! We will likely sell our Steel Force yearling bull in the fall and use this guy as our clean up for a year. Perfect personality too!
The second photo is a butt shot of him and our Steel Force x REN Extra Nice embryo heifer. The last shot is a side shot of her. Her flush brother and a half brother won the Denver pen of 3 bulls this year. The older she gets, the better she looks! She is a Jan. One of the kids will likely show her.
The 3rd photo is another embryo heifer calf, Jan born, Dream on x ETR Ebony Antoinette. We bought three eggs from Windy Ridge Simmentals, two stuck. We have a fall bull and this heifer. She is a 3/4 sib to Built Right, but looks nothing like him! No white on her or the fall bull, and heavy muscled! She will likely be shown also.
The 4th photo is a bull calf born Christmas day, and already pushing over 600 pounds. He is going to the sale barn next week, only because I have no pen to put another bull calf in and his birth weight was high for me (100 pounds). His dam is my good Collins Macho half blood (1/4 draft pick and 1/4 angus) that won 2009 South Central Regional Classic Percentage. Great bull calf, lots of potential, and would make a fantastic show steer but just no time or place so he goes. Plus, he is sired by a Triple C Invasion embryo bull we raised and sold last fall, so not AI sired.
So, there you have it. We have a bunch more, like a pretty good Broker calf (some days I love him, some days I do not!), a nice Analyze This bull calf, two Grandmaster heifer calves, a Movin Forward heifer calf, Dream On bull calf, and a bull calf out of our State Fair winning bull last year. Good season for us!!!
