I have a question. i am feeding a show heifer out and am feeding her 13lbs a day of showmaster grower. Was told to start feeding her some oats.  what kind does she need in order to get the most out of it?  the choices i have are steam, rolled, crimp oats. just wanting everybody input.  what would you recommend for show heifer

She needs to be eating at least 2.5% of her body weight or at least 22 pounds of a complete ration. I would not add oats to your current ration. I would feed Hi-Pro 288 it has less corn and more oats, works great for heifers. You have got to feed her more if you are going to show her.

If you did feed her oats I would feed crimped oats, I have had good luck with feeding them. Also I would say the heifer needs to be fed about 20-23lbs/day. At this point in the game I would feed more protein because she sounds like a young heifer, and has some growing to do. But if your heifer is a good feed converter than less feed will work. I personally don't like my show calves over conditioned. But I don't like them green either. Post a pic of her so we can see what she looks like and then go from there!!! Good luck!!
