AC freezing

started the cool room today and about 5 hours into, my ac freezes and it gets hotter. what do I do. its a whirlpool, pretty big, had it for 3 years. iv'e read about cleaning the coils...

Call Whirlpool, and check if it still under warranty. My dad one go out the other day and apparently he still got two years of warranty. He also had his for 3 years. They are going to come and fix it on site is what i was told.

The freon could be low, the coils could be dirty,it could be several things. You need to get someone to check it out.

I vacuumed and washed the coils out and it seemed to help. the other AC is a smaller old one and it doesn't shut off no matter what temp

If you didn't do it ,get some coil cleaner.It will lift the dirt to the surface . Keep an eye on it, because if the freon is low ,it will lock up the compressor.

Defiantly check the freon level that would be my first guess.  Also if it is doing this you need to turn it off or you could blow up the compressor.
