I really think TPS Coronet LEader 21st was ahead of his time. He was a stout massive bull in a time of smaller cattle. Even today you can find females that he has produced that are excellent cows.

The Floto bull did have quite a bit of semen imported into the US, in fact he was one of the bulls that was used quite when the first Gelbvieh semen was really catching on and being imported. Look through a few generations of the top Gelbvieh cows and you're nearly guaranteed to find some Floto in there somewhere. He was a different style from the other herd builders that were imported at that time, which is one of the reasons he's remained so popular.
Leader 21 was perhaps a little ahead of his time when he was young, too big among the belt buckle cattle, but by the time he was a mature bull, he was the top of the line. We used him quite heavily in the late 60's with good success. In my opinion, though, that was his time. The Gordons, Martin Nold, etc., had great success selling his progeny. I personally wouldn't use him today and expect to get what I now want. In his day, there were none better or more popular.

I was surprised he threw as much size as he did. I can see where Jazz gets some of his traits after seeing Doc's female.

I liked her. She's extremely wide across the hook bones. Looked to be a little different type than a lot of modern day Shorthorns, especially since she was real similar in frame size to some 1/2 Lowline's.

I agree on the Black Max, we had some really good cows out of him! I think that DJ Salute was gone to soon. I like the Salutes better as a group than the 734's.
I found it interesting to see that a Bounty Hunter raised a display bull for Denver, Just used him for the first time last summer, can't wait to see the calves this spring!
