To start off we are new to this, but i was just wondering the proper way of artificially inseminating cattle? I understand natural heat detection is the best but we work off farm and cannot be around all the time. We are attempting to build a quality herd of shorthorns by using different genetics that are common in Canada. We only have 6 that we want to ai this year, with a clean up bull that will give us a good live calf but we want to try  some AI and see if we can get em to stick.  any advice is much appreciated.

Talk to who will be doing your ai work. See what they would prefer. You have several options.
