I have been wandering what do people get charged or what do they charge to AI. Also how much is each female bred. I have heard of guys that straight up sync everything and have the AI'er come back and AI them three different times. I have heard of them just showing up when they are in heat. So what does everybody use and how do you get charged. Is it contracted by an amount per pregnancy, or just a set price for each attempt. If the cow doesn't breed then is there no charge. What is everybody elses experiences and Im basicallly looking for a cost analysis of AIing. Thanks

Figure $30 -35 to A.I.    It's up to you to have the cows right and ready.  I've never seen anybody slide fees based on conception.

I charge $20-25, not including semen costs if you would use something from my tank.  If the cow doesn't stick the first time, I will AI the second time free as long as I am not driving very far.

My base rate is $30/head, with discounts available for larger groups of cattle.  If I do an on-farm visit, there is a $25 set-up fee, and possibly a mileage charge if I have to travel very far.  We are located in North Texas.

Wow, getting a pretty penny to AI. Before I went to AI school last year, my vet was charging me $8 a head to AI.

Just like you use the other services your vet provides, we do not charge for A.I. work on the first breeding of a heifer that is purchased from us, and we usually give them a discount on subsequent breedings.

I am guessing your vet does not charge $8 to make an on-farm visit to breed one head.

Our a.I. guy charges 8/head whether we have 1 Or 30 to do that morning Or night. He is a cattle visions dealer and doesn't live that close to us either. I'm sure glad we have him! Even better we have a 87% conception rate this last year!

I charge 35$ for the first and then depending on how many 10 to 20$ per head after. That is them in heat me showing up and just ai ing I did all the work with my neighbors sync and such by myself charged 85$ a head. My friend does that but he takes a percent of calf crop. It was more work than I thought but I will do it again definitely worth the money. I think area depends on rates. There's not many where I'm from so we charge more for distance.

That's to sync the cows. That includes medications, syringes, gloves,CIDRS, and all the tools needed. Plus labor. I would heat watch also for. Hours. Usually from 6 am until 8 am then same at night. That's a lot of time and working with cows that have never been in a shoot I think that's fair. Plus I'm in respiratory therapy trying to finish up.

This year I was too busy, so I paid somebody to do everything talked about above, this included housing and it was $75 a cow. This included semen and the actual AI'ing. Now I only AI'd 5 cows this way.

This included the ai cost. He had semen of his own to use. When you have to gather them up and sort every time it adds up the hours. I named my price and he was happy he thought i would charge 100$ per head. He owns a trucking business and doesn't have time to watch for heat. I was over there for about 2 months watching checking. I thought 85 was fair for both with cattle prices he will make that back with calf off mother. We were both happy so ill stick with it next year.

I charge 6/head on time ai projects and 7/head on heat detected cattle.  These rates are considering I get ALL of the semen business.  If they want to use brand x semen, the rate goes up significantly.  If they have a chute setup that does not allow me to set up our portable ai barn in front of their existing chute and alley, the price goes up also.  If I have to go breed a single cow somewhere, I generally charge 25-40 depending on how far I have to go.
