Gonna ask a stupid question so please bear with me...AI season is upon us and I get over analytical. I plan on AI'ing on pasture this year.

A simple DC converter will work for using my regular 110 V AC thaw unit in my truck vs. buying the 12 V DC unit for $120 correct??

The only reason I ask is concern over stray voltage/short issues?

Comments appreciated.

I have done it for 3 years and haven't had any trouble......At  least I have calves every spring!

To avoid any possible troubles with stray voltage just unplug the unit while you are thawing semen. If you want to go one step further than that you could take a piece of wire and put it in the water and touch the ground with the other end of the wire to make sure that any chance of a charge was deleted, but just unplugging the unit should suffice.
