Chambero and Zane's posts on the kids helping prompted me to "come out of the closet"  ;)

The week of Thanksgiving break we set up the fall group with CIDR's and had the vet out to do repo checks on a few. The kids do most of the work around here, since most of the cattle we have actually belong to them. We had to clear off the normal working space because our barn was being built the next week, so the working facility was set up in a temporary location. But here goes:The first photo is the kids bringing the fall pairs in
The second photo is the same thing, getting the cows sorted so the calves do not get hurt
The third photo is the girls drawing up the Cysterelin (vet in the background ultrasounding a heifer that had not cycled yet)
The fourth photo is my oldest (she does all the AI) trying to get a CIDR in the cow, but the cow started to urinate so she jumped back!
The fifth picture is my middle daughter waiting to push up another cow
....

This next picture is my working crew! Great group of kids that did all the pushing, shot giving, and kisses to their cows! From left to right is my 8 year old son, Seth, my 10 year old daughter Rachel, a visiting friend Jordan, and my oldest daughter, Rebekah.

And, I thought I would include a shot of our show heifer pen. The one on the left is an Upgrade 3/4 blood I bought from Jeff Miller's on line sale (she has a bit of ring worm!) and the blaze face on the right is a fat butt April heifer. The rest you can not tell, but there is a Movin Forward, Grandmaster, Pacesetter and Built Right steer in the group.

I just love family time with the cattle!

Gotta love it.  I'm terrible at thinking of taking pics at times like that, but I enjoy seeing everyone else's.

Looks like you have a great crew working the cattle. That is so good for the kids to just get in there and do it. You are creating work ethic that they will have for life. I really appreciate you letting you oldest do the A.I.ing. There is no other way to learn and get good than just doing it. Over and over and over!  I started A.I.ing when is was 15, and paid my dues with low conception rates and extended times in the cow to get it done. That's just the cost of education.

You are doing a great job raising and educating your kids.  (clapping)
