I am in process of getting my AI schedule set up. I have one cow (5 year old) that calved later. If I put her in the AI group, I will be inserting the CIDR 39 days post calving. Am I wasting CIDR and semen to try that soon or is it worth trying to move her up?

I'd say it's worth it.  My luck has been about 50% on cows that haven't been 60 days.

I'd say go for it.  I have been keeping track of when my cows first cycle back after calving and it has been around 40 days for my cows and about 55 for my first calf heifers.
