anti theft device-gps

Is there anti theft devices that can be stuck on.......say a fence charger. Then if some one takes it......you could follow it on GPS? It seems they have such things for bicycles. What is law enforcement's stance on this?

Tiles. My son-in-law had his camera and computer stole in Kansas City and a month later he tracked it down in the trunk of a car. He called the cops and he got all his stuff back.
