we will hopefully finish planting corn here in time for the rain that should start on Sunday.  Some haven't started yet and some have been done for 2 weeks around here though.  We'll start getting peanut ground ready as soon as we finish corn

Mine has been in the ground about a week. There was plenty of moisture when we planted but we sure need a rain.

I started this post this mornin and since then we just got 4 inches of snow so that puts a damper on my spring itch.  We arent even close to gettin in a field yet, but last year on March 18 my neighbor was plantin sugar beets.  funny how it changes from year to year.  Cant wait until I can climb out of the tractor and smell that fresh dug dirt!!

Just wonderin how much rain you guys got in the center of the corn belt?

Here in SW Iowa, I don't know for sure about any actual amounts, but I can tell you for sure that the ground is saturated!!! A fair amount of calf scours going on right now. Hoping to see some sun soon, but the forcast is pretty much for rain on & off through the next 10 days. Hope that some moisture makes it to those of you that are in great need.

Here on the MN/IA border, we've had cold, rainy days for 2 weeks.  Got 3-5 inches of snow yesterday.  Sounds like it's supposed to warm up this weekend and the beginning of next week.  Everybody has all their seed and equipment ready to go and now just waiting for the ground to warm up and dry out.

Last two years my home area of the  state NW IA, has been called the greenhouse of the US.  We have had over a 200 bushel average the last two years, no problem, but this year isn't good as of right now.  If anything gets planted before mid next week it would be a miracle, more than likely it will be next weekend, unless the weather straightens out amazingly well.  Problem around us has been the ground was so sticky that everyone was afraid to touch it. Most people hadn't even disced or had only done one field.

Here in Oklahoma they are worried that the wheat might be toast. Statewide, 69 percent of the crop is rated poor to very poor. It is way above the five-year-average for heading out at 41 percent of the crop there instead of the average 18 percent. In my travels around the central region, it looks to only be about ankle high. Some say they might be able to get cutters in there and harvest some for seed wheat, but most farmers say the cost of fuel will keep them out of the fields. We haven't had rain in months. Driest period since the Dust Bowl. Makes me thankful for the amazing farming practices we have acquired since that time.

Northeast Missouri about 15 miles from the Missisippi,  there's probally been 25-30 percent of corn planted here but at a stand still now, cold and wet for at least this week.

South Dakota is a mess of mud right now. Have not seen sun in 5 days and has been raining off and on for at least 4 now.  We have fronts coming through for the next week to ten days with tempatures staying pretty low.  No corn will be put in until May 1st or maybe a little sooner.  Hopeing for sun for the calves because it sure is a mess out there.

Only a small amount around here about 2 weeks from harvest. It has been the worst harvest year for all crops this year yields on potates, poppies and pyrethrum has been way down due to the wet summer with little sun shine. Many growers are just breaking even with crops and some may go to the wall.

poppies- grown commercially of morphin
pyrethrum- A daisy grown commercially for a natural insecicide.
Tassie grows most of the legal morphin and pyrethrum crop for the world

In S. GA we've had corn planted a month and watermelons planted about 2 weeks. Plan to transplant tobacco next week, then cotton and peanuts to follow. Getting pretty dry here !

Western Ohio, nothing but rain and mud.  The creek gas been out 3 times in our bottom ground,  We got crab to haul, pastures to plant, and beans.  Oh, yes in about 3 weeks hay to make.  I suppose when  we need rain in August we won't see any.

Grass is starting to green up.  More rain in the forecast, with snow mix.  Mud is knee deep, roads washed out, or flooded.  The only thing I have planted currrently is my loader tractor.
