I wasn’t at the show but watching the video, I thought Cender’s Red Bull calf has a lot of potential.
Mark- Starman’s bull is sired by a Sullivan bull my brother owns and he is about as easy a doing bull as they come. So hats off to John Sullivan for raising functional damn good cattle also!

I usually try to stay off these boards but this time I feel I should at least try to set everything or everyone straight. My daughter raised SRV Quiet Man, I am not sure where everybody is getting there data from but that is ok. He is not perfect and in my mind we as breeders have not made the perfect one yet. As far as why we trimmed his feet so short, we have never trimmed his feet. He was not raised in a show barn his entire life he actually was breeding heifers this spring, we brought him in 30 days before jr nationals so we could get him ready for my daughter to show. He is out of a first calf heifer that she raised and showed, his actual BW is 75lbs. Where we live in SD ( not Illinois ) cattle have to be easy keeping and sound so if anyone wants to question his structure they can call Dennis Kennedy in Oklahoma and ask him about the bull as he purchased him earlier this fall. So maybe you can stop bashing a seventeen year old girls pride and joy on a public forum . Like I said he is not perfect and not for everyone but he does have his place in this breed that has way too many hard doing monster cows.

Yeah fair enough.

He is not a bull I could make good use of but I'm sure he will be great for his new owners and many who AI to him. This is not down to his quality, just a difference in type.

We also don't trim feet on any bulls or anything else we keep genetics from.

Where I live, cattle don't have to fend for themselves nearly as much. We don't feed much grain, but lots of hay.

We sold exactly one Shorthorn bull last year. This does not make me a Shorthorn bull selling authority.

We're in the business of raising the best show cattle we can. It is funny how our best show heifers end up being our best doing cows 90% of the time.

Require less feed to maintain their cover, raise the best and biggest calves, need less general attention than our average cow.

I'll freely admit that they get every advantage here, but that's my job.

You are preaching to the choir-things have to change-and the pompous cliques with thier socalled syndicated bulls with absolute DOGSH6778990T for true numbers and any docs  are scaired of anything they cant take credit for or compete with because its all a card house pack of lies--MEANWHILE so many really good honest breeders who documented every move of their cattle have left the entire deal and left the whole BS GAME-they just run commercial SUE on here is one-and she is probably a better historian then me - except KEVIN KIMMERLING-all I can say is LAST BUT NOT LEAST- I sure hope people like you DONT quit -and the lemmings that chase that creme de la creme BOGUS SH^&&*(($T  spending gobs of money and having to hide the hi dollar cattle that cant raise a calf finally realize that people like you-mere mortals like the breeder of your bulls sire and others like Waukaru Byland (although those cattle ARE NOT RAISED UNDER COMMERCIAL CONDITIONS) Loving, some of the Ohio beeeders  Montana Breeders ,and others are the some of the few legitimate breeders a basic person that wants to try a Shorthorn could trust I sure hope you  just keep doing what you are doing -you should be very proud-and whoever slammed you here-1 HAS NEVER BRED ONE _FROM A HOMEBRED COW EVEN CLOSE TO A UNIQUE ONE LIKE HIM--and the other-DOESNT KNOW SH%^^&*(T from SHINOLA TO BEGIN WITH ABOUT SHORTHORNS-but it is rumored he has been to many strange places-perhaps its  a juxtaposition of interplanetary definitions causing temporary confusion-Be VERY  proud of what your daughter accomplished it only comes round a couple times in a lifetime I AM even though I dont know you O0

thanks to whoever posted the instructions to see the bull show.  I watched it and must say the quiet Man class was the most interesting.  Kills me he's TH.  Dude looks good.  With that said, I was most intrigued by JA SP Gale Force.  A CE bull like that showing so well is impressive.  Wish I could see a pic of the CS Marybeth cow - Gale Force's granddam, and the reserve national champion bull CS Starcatchers dam.  Also, no offense as he's outstanding show bull, but wish Legacy looked more masculine for his age (nearly 3 yrs) - Red Knight looked better on his last win.
