For those that have been what do you think would be the youngest age you would say should attend a clinic?  Would 9 and 12 year old girls with little experience be ok?

My boys were 8 and 9 when we went and that to me is the perfect age, they haven't learned to do it wrong, they don't think they know everything yet, they are still teachable and wanting to learn.  Now I will say that if retain 20% of it that will be great, but you will be learning with them, my boys will attend again, but it was a great learning experience for all of us.

Hey BA we were at the Advanced one in IN that Denise Garriott put on.  We must know you!  There weren't as many there as the other ones we have to.

My son and I went to two.  The introductory one and an advanced one.  My husband and I went to one the next year.  There is always a lot to learn.  My son and I took notes and compared each night.  ALOT OF STUFF!!!  The great thing is that Kirk and my son have stayed in touch over the years and whenever we have a question we call him and ask!  He is really in to teach and help.  With the products always changing, there is always new stuff to learn.  You will love it.  Best money, in show cattle, we ever spent.  Have a great time!!!!

Yep that's the one. We show Angus and that breed is differant on fitting and
even more at the assoc shows. The clinics get you lined up then if you will take the
time to watch some of the good ones at the shows you learn differant tricks
along the way.
Brian lived in a house at Black Hawk with18-20 boys and they fed off each other
tryingcrazy stuff.Even fit out a stuffed calf.

Okay, we're back from the Stierwalt clinic.  There's just no possible way to digest THAT MUCH information in 2 1/2 days.  It was unbelievable.  He covered everything from daily care, feed & nutrition, showmanship (and showmanship and showmanship and showmanship....) clipping, fitting, products for showday, clippers and blades.... he went over pretty much everything you needed to know to show calves.  If I left anything out, the guy probably answered at least one question about it this week. It's hard to believe how much information and experience we received, when you consider what we paid.  We got a steal.

Kirk Stierwalt is one of the nicest men I've ever met.  Just a great great guy.  He'd answer any question about show cattle that you could think of, and nothing was too elementary or too advanced.  I ended up taking my wife and all 3 kids.  He used our heifer for demonstration purposes and she looked like a million bucks when he got through with her.  It was really helpful for me, because when I was trying to clip and fit, all I had to do was go look at the other side of the calf to see how it oughta be done. ;D  I couldn't have asked for a better situation, for a family that's trying to learn about show cattle.  We had a ball.

My opinion would be save the money and buy the videos if you slick shear.   id say 80 per cent is on clipping and fitting.
I really think anyone could learn from these clinics.  It wasn't 80% clipping & fitting, it was more like 20% on those subjects and 80% on learning how to properly care for cattle.  We covered everything from showday preparation and product, to how he would design a washrack, to what to wear in the ring.  I would absolutely recommend his clinics to anyone.

I went to one of his clinics back in February and I had a blast. My dad and I went along with one of my friends form school that showed cattle and my ag-teachers husband, it was so much fun. You learn allot and he covers EVERYTHING. And he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.  If you ever have a chance to go to one that is close to your area you should definitely go.

Yeah, Stierwalt does a great job.  I attended two of his clinics and at one I watched him clip on a crossbred steer that was just shaggy with hair.  It seemed like he didn't want to stop clipping on all that hair.  It was just interesting to watch him work.

What did the class cost? Discount for multiple people? Where was it located? Do you have a schedule of his future clinics?

I would love to attend one of his clinics. Does anyone know of any clinics in central Wisconsin?
