Below normal precip here in western kansas. We got enough to green grass up. Most cows out on grass. Rain isn't problem here for corn planting ...it's the darn soil temperature. Got down to 40 degress here last night air temperature. I thought our drought was over with last years blizzard but I don't know. There is alot of hope riding on this years crops as they are worth some money. Some wheat fields starting to look a little rough.

We have these little biting flys this year that we have never seen before.  They are like a cross between a housefly and a fruit fly.  They are eating us and the animals alive!  My grandma could't go to church on Sunday because her eyes were almost swelled shut from a bite.  And when I was mowing the yard on Sat they were getting in my hair line and under my sunglasses and trying to bite me too.  The neighbors have never seen them and have been complaining aout them too.  Maybe it is because we didn't get a later frost like we usually do  ???  I hope they go away soon!
