Regular auction. There is a sale close to me that has only been around for about five years. They want $50 a head but its not a big sale, mostly small local breeders like my self.

If you are talking about a $50 flat fee per head including commision and everything I would say that is dirt cheap.

Many consignment sales will run in the 20% commission range.

What ahs this sale averaged per head in the past?

$50.00 sounds like a cataloging or entry fee to me. Most consignment auctions will run between 15% and 20% and lately I've heard of some alot higher. Most of the ones I have done have been in the 15% to 17% range depending on advertising and what type of catalogs we build. Color, slick page catalogs with a bunch of pictures can raise the cost considerably. RW

$50 flat fee. There isnt much advertising. I would say 25-35 head with the average around $700. There are some that sell in the $1500 range. I know I got to start somewhere but it seem that with all the extras added in (trucking, health papers) that it will really eat into any profit.
