Have never used it before, have never seen anyone use it to even understand what would be so terrrible about useing it that it's in so mnay rules not to use it.  I think I understand the basic concept, but I must be missing something as to why it is not allowed.  Most rules I can see have some sort of purpose behind them.  Just trying to educate myself as to what the history behind this would be. 
What makes it such a terribly bad thing to do.

It can be used in much the same way as graphite, chalk, or very very very fine twine or sawdust. So it can be used as an artificial builder, which is illegal at almost all jr and a lot of breed shows. 

You're probably talking about using it to lighten up a yellowed quarter or hock, and that is a much less egregious fault.
